Environmental Policy

Indigo Ltd are audience specialists - specialising purely in the arts, cultural and heritage sectors, offering a range of research, insight and consultancy services.

As a service provider, we do not have products, as such, but we recognise that the work we undertake, and the travelling required to execute it, result in emissions to air and water, and the generation of waste. We have identified that our largest environmental impacts are likely to be through:

  • travel
  • office equipment
  • energy use, including through digital carbon footprint via website, email and generative AI use.

It is our aim to comply with legislation and other requirements, continue to reduce the environmental impacts of our business and operate in an environmentally responsible manner. This policy describes how we will achieve our aim.

Responsibility

This environmental policy applies to all of our operations, and CEO Katy Raines is responsible for ensuring that the policy is implemented. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.

Resources

We will ensure that resources are available to enable us to achieve our objectives and targets.

Objectives

We aim to:

  • recycle or give away old equipment wherever possible
  • recycle paper and card through local authority provided schemes
  • recycle old mobile phones and toner cartridges by donating them to charity, which also provides an income stream for them
  • use paper from recycled or sustainable sources, and environmentally friendly ink, when procuring print services
  • use a green electricity supplier where possible
  • use public transport wherever possible, whilst noting that sometimes car use is more practical and provides better value for our clients
  • use our company electric vehicle to travel where car journeys are necessary
  • inform all customers and suppliers of our commitment to reducing our environmental impact
  • champion sustainable practices in our client organisations, and aim to be a sector leader in research to support this practice
  • identify and take proactive steps to reduce our carbon impact

To achieve our aims, we will:

  • inform all new customers and suppliers about our environmental policy by including details in all our contracts
  • incorporate training into the induction programme for new starters.

Progress

Progress against these objectives will be monitored through quarterly company meetings.
