If you are automating your surveys through a triggered or programmed post-visit email, and you've followed the instructions in your Indigo Share portal, the event name, date and time should be pre-populated in the URL that goes to your customers. This allows us to capture that data alongside an individual's survey response. You can also add in additional manual or automated (depending on your box office system) fields: the source of the survey (email, face-to-face or QR code) and the venue (if you have multiple spaces). If you want to add these in and create different links to set up in different surveys, use the link builder below.
If you are not automating, the link builder allows you to still capture data in this. You can create as many different links as you like and you can use the following fields to capture information:
- Event name
- Event date
- Event time
- Source (data collection method i.e. face-to-face, email, QR code)
- Venue
- Genre
- Audience segment
None of these fields is mandatory, so you can use what is useful to you.

FAQs
Do I need to use the Link Builder?
If you have set up automation with your ticketing system for event name, date and time, you don’t have to use the Link Builder. (You can find information about setting up this automation in your portal). However, if you want to add additional fields or you cannot set up automation, the Link Builder means that you can be in control of creating the links you need. There’s no restriction on how many you use and no need to wait for us to set them up for you.
Where do I find my core link?
You can find this in your portal. It will be called NEW Core Link. Don’t use your autolink in the Link Builder as this will break your automated fields.
Which fields should I include in my link?
- We strongly recommend that you include event name as a minimum, ideally automating this via your box office system. Details of how to do this can be found in your portal. This will enable you to filter on event name in your dashboard.
- If you are unable to automate, you can choose any field in the Link Builder to help you group and filter your data.
What extra variables can I include?
- On Essential, you can include event name, date and time, plus venue and source (i.e. how you’re distributing your surveys).
- On Premium, you can add genre and segment to this.
- On Premium Plus, you can create up to three completely bespoke variables; get in touch to set this up before you start to use these or the data will not be captured successfully..
All of these are optional so you only need to use ones that you’ll want in your data, for example to filter by on your dashboard.
What do I put in each box?
- If you’re using additional fields like venue, source, genre or segment (genre and segment on Premium and Premium Plus only), you can either set these up to be automatically populated from your ticketing system OR you can enter the information manually. The ability to populate them automatically will depend on your ticketing system, so you may need to consult with your supplier helpdesk or internal team.
- If you are automating, the box will usually be filled with some kind of automated field. In Spektrix, there are currently limits on what data can be pulled through in this way, but you may be able to use a DotDigital program to automate this. Talk to Spektrix Support for more help.
- If you are taking a manual approach, these fields will become filters on your dashboard. This means it’s really important to use exactly the same wording each time if you want things to be grouped. For example, if you have a space called Studio 1, you always need to enter it in this format, not as Studio1 or STUDIO-1, for example. Otherwise items will appear separately on the list.
- You don’t need to fill in every box!
Troubleshooting tips
- Your link isn’t working? Have you checked you have included your Core Link (NOT your Auto Link) in the link builder?
